Home Based Care
Home Based Care

  • Since K-VOWRC does not discriminate and sex workers who are HIV positive are encouraged to join the groups, the women are trained in home based care. If one of the members of the groups falls sick the others contribute and also provide home based care in turns so that also their businesses do not suffer neglect.
  • To delay the onset of AIDS the women are given supplements in form of flour while those with opportunistic infections are treated with a drug kit available at the office and for serious infections they are referred to government health centres and hospitals.
Memory Project Training
  • Women who are HIV positive are trained in the Memory Project. This involves empowering the women to disclose their status to the next of kin and to record vital information for their children in a book.·

The topics taught include:

    • Child growth and development
    • Parenting
    • Communication
    • Disclosure
    • Separation
    • Book of memories
    • Will writing
