About This Kikoy

Who made it?

Your kikoy was hand woven by Susan of K-VOWRC in Nairobi from 100% cotton grown and harvested in East Africa. Susan overcame a difficult start in life as a child sex worker which left her both deaf and mute. This versatile cotton is part of an alternative income generating activity organized by K-VOWRC. Kikoys are traditional sarongs worn by men on the balmy coast of Kenya and are available in a variety of colours and pattern. However the preferred style is stripes. Use it as a wrapper, a table cloth, a woman's scarf, a window or wall dressing. It can also make shirts, shorts and skirts.
